I did a pre-check-in to change my insurance and remove the old. The software apparently has a bug. The card was uploaded, but when I arrived at the appointment 20 minutes early, the staff had difficulty with the new insurance and the old insurance was still flagged as active. As a result, they checked me in 10 minutes past my scheduled appointment. This caused delays for my physician because they were not aware that I was waiting, the computer didn't alert them. Too much emphasis is placed on technology. I waited 30 minutes past my appointed time as a result of software glitches. The pre-check-in was completed 7 days prior to my appointment. If there were issues with my insurance, this should have been caught in reporting and corrected prior to my arrival, or sorted out after my appointment. Maybe Aurora's policy should be more patient centered and less dependent upon technology and the bottom line. It just might reduce patient abrasion. Despite the delay, I couldn't be happier with my physician and nurse, they are true gems!
