Dr. Wichman is overly busy. I waited a very long time for my appointment once I was in the room. Not blaming him, blaming Aurora.

Great doctor but I waited over an hour past my scheduled appt. time to see him. Staff were friendly, but no reason ever given for such long delay.
Dr Wichman did a great job on my tkr. It's right where I would expect it to be at 61/2 months. There was an unusual hip area complication that was felt from the minute the block wore off post surgery. My best guess is that what happened was not his fault but was a consequence of a 44-year history of three blown ACLs, cartilage and meniscus damage and chronic IT band issues. Dr. Wichman did not blow me off, call me a whiner. Rather he followed it through. I'm now off to find a hip specialist for a cortisone shot. Hopefully that will clear up this post op issue once and for all. I think Dr. Wichman is a fine surgeon and a conscientious, busy individual. My only suggestion would be to have more direct contact with those patients with complications, rather than primary contact with his PA...(also very competent but not a physician). It's also a lengthy wait to get in to see him. I get that, he's in demand. But it took 51/2 months from the time I blew my ACL for the 3rd time (resulting in pretty extreme instability all the while), until the actual date of surgery. Most of that wait was for him. Yes, I think he was worth the wait, but... I'm not sure how you would actually solve that issue. In conclusion, I now have had three major surgeries and 10 incisions in the five square inches encompassing my scrambled-egg knee. Can you imagine how ugly it could have been had I gone to a lesser surgeon?

Dr Mark Wichman is the ONLY shoulder guy I would recommend. He is superb and a great surgeon.
