Brought an X-ray disc done by asst. living facility ( use an agency). Office claim they couldn't read it and needed another disc. Asst living facility said agency said disc was good as they checked it and they probably weren't using the right program. Asked me to bring in another disc. So X-ray was not even looked at for visit.

The office experience was good. Everyone was kind and careful of my injury. It was when I got home and noticed a couple things. They gave me an appointment 5 weeks out or instead of 4 weeks. I didn't do the math there because I was tired (xray, stitch removal, etc.) Plus I trusted the nurse did the math as they kept saying "4 more weeks of non-weight bearing" . Didn't say if you come to the DG office it's 5 wks, or in Aurora it's 4 wks. From home I changed the appt to 4 wks, in Aurora. That extra week is very important when you can't walk with both feet. My other issue is 2 part. Why do you give a heavy, clumsy walking boot to me when I can't walk on it for 4 weeks? Plus I am pretty sure it is too big/long. (Even if I were to put my full weight on it. Can't imagine my toes hanging over.) For 4 weeks I'll have to haul it around when using the walker. Besides the weight, I'm afraid all that rubber & extra inches will trip me up. I was glad to not be in a cast but isn't there an in between option? A boot that keeps the ankle stable & safe but is lighter, not so clumsy. When I called about it, the nurse focused on how it'll be fine when I walk on it. Giving me tips about shoes to wear while walking in the boot. I kept saying that's 4 weeks away! The only remedy was for me to haul myself back into the office (probably Aurora) to try a smaller walking boot. I'm giving this one I have a go. I may decide to come back in for the smaller size but its an effort managing the few steps out of & into my house. While in the office I did ask about it being so big for what I needed at this point. Didn't further it as it seemed the only option.
