I was "diagnosed" with something upsetting and the provider as well as the medical assistant sat there and stared at me while I was experiencing my emotions. They did not offer compassion and provided me with little information regarding how the provider came up with the diagnosis. I had to prod information out of the provider to learn more about the condition and treatment. There was no form of empathy or caring given to me during this interaction. They said "all the right things" but did not offer any form of sympathy. The provider also mentioned they would call after with my laboratory results but had someone from the office call. The person who called me did not tell me their position in the office and offered me very little information about my results and treatment. I had to prod this person who called me with more information about the treatment and my results. Much of which they did not know as the provider did not mention the information I was inquiring about. The person who called me mentioned I sounded upset but did not help me understand the results any better. Then they just ended the conversation by saying "bye" and hung up the phone. I normally would not say anything but this experience at this dermatology appointment has been so sub par it should be addressed. I believe I want to see a different dermatologist or even a whole different dermatology department at a new clinic. This experience has been by far the worst I've had at a health care provider.
