Dr. stressed how much he cared about the patient before him, but preferred to belittle my choices regarding the level of care I choose to pursue rather than focus on the issue that brought me to see him. Doesn't seem to acknowledge that a patient has the right to refuse treatment. Very pushy about cancer screening. Asked a lot of questions and interrupted the answers to tell me that he's the doctor and therefore he knows more than me. I put off scheduling an appointment for 10 years and then had to wait an additional 3 months to actually have the appointment I'd scheduled, mostly due to anxiety about interactions with previous doctors. He did not seem to care that this was the case, and did nothing to put me at ease. Demeaning manner persisted even when I agreed with him about a point. He prescribed a drug that should not be taken by pregnant women (indicated on the labeling at the pharmacy) but did not ask if there was any chance that I might be pregnant. I intend to keep the follow-up appointment, but I do not think I will return after that. I don't know if that means I will not continue to attempt to control my blood pressure, as it was very difficult for me to work up the resolve to make THIS appointment.
