I usually have a good experience with Dr.Nolan, I've been going to her for years. But this appointment felt rushed. The nurse called me early to get on the virtual vist early because "the doctor is ahead of schedule and antsy". I had made the appointment because I had a higher A1C level come back at another doctor and noone was counseling me on it, so I had asked of she was able to manage thos and prescribe metformin or something else. The appointment felt like I was asking for the medicine and that's what I was getting. I'm not a doctor. All I have is seeing this higher number, not knowing what to do with it, and knowing I have a family history. I wasn't given any resources or guidance on the med, what to look out for etc beyond taking it with the biggest meal of day. The notes for followup in mychart said to call the nurse with any followup questions. I had felt flustered and rushed in appointment so gad more questions after. I left a general message for the nurse in the morning an followed up with a mychart message with details of my questions. I did not get a call back. I did get a curt mychart message with capslock NOTs for my blood sugar questions and to talk to a nurse if I had questions because she is out of the office until Tuesday. This is new and scary for me. I'm trying to navigate this and thought my primary doctor would be supportive and help me find resources and more information. I felt dismissed and treated like I was asking something unreasonable. The information I had on blood sugar checking was from medline plus, a legitimate health resource from the national library of medicine. This wasn't a random Google of questions. And even if my questions seemed ridiculous to someone who sees this all day and it's no big deal to them, I should still be treated with dignity and respect.

I'm sure Dr Nolan would have discussed preventions, etc if necessary.

Dr Nolan is the best - I've been seeing her for years. She's so kind, knowledgeable, and has been there for me during stressful times for both my mental and physical health. I can't say enough positive things about her every time I'm in need of healthcare.
