I wish that when I addressed concerns about my child's breathing, they would initiate checking my child's spO2, or would even look at my child to count respirations appropriately. When I mention that the area around my child's lips are blue when they wake up, I wish it would be taken seriously. When I explain that my child has a hard time breathing in the morning even when sleeping at a 30 degree angle, as though the upper airway is compromised to some degree, it would be addressed. Instead, I have been told that my child will grow out of it and that it's nothing to be worried about. Normally at this age, they grow out of the issues mentioned above because their upper airways get bigger which allows for better breathing, but my child is getting worse as time goes on. I understand that this provider has been in the business for years and has so many people that come back to her, she has a lot of experience and has probably seen some really awful and severe cases of things, but just because my child's case may not be as severe as some of the other cases they've dealt with doesn't mean it should be shrugged off and dismissed, or "We'll see how your child is doing at the next appointment." I'm a mom, I don't want to wait and continue to hear and watch my child struggle to breathe right. It's been a bit of a frustrating journey so far. Hoping it gets better.
