Please Read...this is important I am so use to being treated well, like a king, like I am the most important patient at Aurora, when I was not treated that way by the receptionist (that probably is not the right title), when checking in, I became irritated and treated the receptionist poorly. The receptionist asked me the usual questions at check-in. However, usually again, I am treated very well. This time however, she asked the questions and told me to have a seat, someone would be with me shortly. I sat down. She didn't ask the questions in a tone of interest or concern, she just sounded like she was going through the paces, because she had to do it. She had trouble putting a smile on her face. She had trouble sounding enthused or excited about her job or me, the patient. There seemed to be no interest on her part. I sat down as instructed. Soon a nurse came by and talked to her and another receptionist. They joked and laughed. Then another employee from a doctors office came by and asked if anyone needed water. Again, they laughed and joked. I became irritated upon all this happening. To me the receptionist was all business. Rather stern. With this, I stood-up and complained about not being treated nicely, but she was kidding around with other employees. At this time, I was called into the doctor's exam room. After my visit with the doctor, one of the employees, who had earlier been joking with the receptionist, now with a big smile and lively voice said something to the effect of "Bye now, have a good day". The same was said by the receptionist and another receptionist, also in a loud lively voice, they were too far away so I could not see their faces. My reply in all cases was "Thanks, and you too". My point in all this is, the patient, should be treated as if he/she is more important than any conversation that the employees may be having. We should be treated with kindness and with interest/concern. This is how I am usually treated at Aurora. This is one big reason why I like going to Aurora. I was wrong and regret attacking the receptionist. If you can determine who it was, maybe you could tell her, or better yet, forward this to her. I could go and tell her myself, but maybe it is better not to go back to the scene of the crime. Aurora doctors, as well as all employees, have been very good to me. Overall, I have been treated well. My pride got the better of me. Again, I was wrong in treating the receptionist that way. Maybe, this can be a learning for both of us, the receptionist and me. To treat each other, as we would like to be treated. Peace to her.
