Always a pleasure seeing Kelly M, APN. Great team at Morton Grove
NP McClintock was warm and made me feel comfortable in her office. She listened to my concerns and provided actionable advice on how to move forward. I'm not able to comment on her medical expertise, but I do find NPs in general to be often as knowledgeable and competent as doctors, but with more to offer in terms of bedside manner, time spent with patients, ability to listen and respect patients and collaborative care. One thing that is not a reflection on NP McClintock but on the medical system in general is the unfortunate practice of billing patients additionally for discussing specific medical conditions. I see more and more practices are now in the habit of handing out notices, as I receive ed before my appointment, of patient responsibility of charges beyond the scope of a wellness visit, which includes discussion of specific medical conditions. The practice of billing patients extra for bringing up concerns about their health is unfortunate and puts a bad taste in my mouth, as it discourages patients from being honest and transparent with their medical providers for fear that speaking up or asking too many questions might lead to financial burden that they had no way of anticipating or calculating in advance. I do understand that this is a fault of the larger system, in which family medicine doctors are not afforded the same salary or respect as specialists, necessitating collection of additional payments, but it's a reflection of the decline of the quality of medical care in the US in general. I felt I had to ask if I would be billed for consultation before bringing up any specific medical problems, so I erred on the side of caution and avoided asking too many detailed questions about my health, which is the opposite of the feeling a patient coming for an appointment at a general practitioners office should have.
Kelly is kind, professional and very caring. She explains everything in layman's terms and really knows all about me!
