This is the 2nd provider out of many that my child has seen, including many specialist, she truly feels doesnt just got through the motions and order the standard care, or groups her into the category of an odity. Kate actually listened to her (every area of health that my daughter wanted to bring up; she is 10 and inquisitive and a talker that has always been very proactive in her own health management) She proposed options with rationale and comparisons, asked for my daughter's opinion on treatment after educating her, before deciding on a course of action to initiate. For her evaluation of treatment appointment, she inquired about any/all random or patterned responses to her new meds and assessed both the impact on her physical and mental state since she was last seen. Kate briefly but thoroughly hit every angle to make sure nothing was missed or could pose a future problem and encouraged my daughter to report any issues so they could be brought to her attention and addressed immediately if that was ever the case. She was down to earth, friendly, comforting, positive and made my daughter feel like she had some responsibility for her own health as she is getting to be pre-teen so should be allowed to have say and feedback in her own care going forward. She encouraged her to continue to be proactive and congratulated her for sticking to the regimen and tracking her health. It was not over the top, it was genuine and never felt rushed. Although Kate is not a pediatric NP i trust her with my childs care from her experience, ability to connect to her patients, thus ensuring she has the entire scenario from the patient themselves , not just bits and pieces and then taking the rest of the HPI from prior records. It is nice to have my daughter say she cant wait to go back to tell kate how she is doing in 6months after years of her always being anxious and subjected to appointments that were monotinous, impersonal and like a bad job interviews with mediocre feedback. Kates approach addressing things that needs her attention in a strategic manner and her follow through while providing even further support, encouragement, and education was refreshing. I am so pleased she will be helping out in the pediatric clinic until a candidate can be found for that physician position. It was very nice to see her again and very reassuring for my childs future condition management! Thank you Kate!
