Dr. Peterson was very thorough in his explanation about my surgery, current condition, and future treatment. He used X-rays that were taken minutes earlier and explained my knee replacement.

This last visit I was also seen first by a practioner that Dr Peterson appears to be mentoring. If I'm right it seems like an excellent way of providing post op care and some of the burden off of the Dr although seeing him is important. Also I was impressed with communication by both about going to the dentist and stressing the need to pre medicate with antibiotics for life. If every Orthopedic doctor sends their patients out the door with an rx for dental treatment it would help the dental practice out by avoiding 1. A phone call to the orthopedic office about what protocol was recommended and how long. 2. Sending the patient home because they didn't know about pre medication, which turns out to be unproductive for the Dentist. 3. The Dentist can prescribe the appropriate antibiotic after the Orthopedic fill runs out. I can't stress that enough the communication and importance between professions because I'm a registered Dental Hygienist and have experienced numerous times the newly joint replacement that knows nothing about antibiotic protocol. I have one more post op follow up at the one year mark and I have to say that my first joint replacement has been a very positive experience for me. However I would have rather had the surgery at St Luke's medical center for personal reasons.
