I was happy to hear the news that my bone density has slightly improved over the past year of my taking the medication prescribed by Dr Newell.
Everyone was really nice to me, which means a lot.
The nurse was awesome. Again as last year, she spent more time with me, asking questions & somewhat answering my questions. Dr. Newell only comes in for less than 5 minutes. He said my labs looked good, & see you next year.
The staff was very friendly to me during my visit
15 minues w/ nirse 2 minutes with dr and aother 20 minutes waitng for nurse then when nurse came back 10 more minutes figuring out next appt
Doctor had outdated knowledge about healthy calcium sources in the diet.
I feel as if he doesn't fully understand my condition. He told me to keep doing what I've been doing to treat my condition when it acts up, which has been eating M&Ms and drinking OJ. I guess experiencing extremely dangerous health episodes every few months is better than changing my medicine or doing more testing. He also asked me what I recommend he do about my health issues...isn't he the doctor? When I questioned him on a lab result that came back low, he claimed "low" is actually normal. I was born with this condition and that was the first time I ever heard that. I tried switching doctors last year after my visit and was told no because the other doctor would continue me on the same dosage of medicine. This time around I will either be changing doctors, or changing hospitals all together. In the past he told me boys cannot get my condition which I challenged him on because I knew that wasn't correct, and he later came back and told me I was correct. He has told me to not get my injection medication because insurance wouldn't cover it and instead, call 911 if there's a medical emergency. First of all, if I need my injections, I definitely don't have enough time to wait for an ambulance. Second, when I asked him how much it would be without insurance, he said $18. I have a family member who also sees him and they have the same complaints. I would never recommend this doctor to anyone if they want an attentive doctor.
Excellent as always
Dr. Newell and his staff are all kind and very professional. I feel lucky to be under his service, as he has closed his practice to new patients for now. I am a type II Diabetic and my HgbA1C is 5.8%, which is the best it has ever been, since I have been using a continuous glucose monitor.
The nurse and Dr Newell were both helpful and courteous as usual.
